Irony refers to what is said is in contrary to its meaning. Similarly, in the dramatic irony, there are differences in perspective. Actions of the character are understood by the audience whereas, the character does not.

Dramatic irony creates different perspectives and creates deep humor and suspense. For example:

In Shakespeare’s Macbeth, the audience is aware that Macbeth while planning for Duncan's death, he acts loyal to him.
