The high school marching band has a total of 100 students. There are 3 times as many girls in the band as boys. How many girls are in the band?

Total number of students = 100
Let the number of boys = x.
Then, number of girls = 3x
According to the question,
x+3x=100
4x=100
x=100/4
x=25
Number of girls = 3×25 =75
Hence, there are 75 girls in the band.
