use the slope formula m= [tex]\frac{y 2-y 1}{x 2-x 1}[/tex]

then sub in numbers m=[tex]\frac{7-1}{-5-1}[/tex]

now subtract numerator and the denominator

[tex]7-1= 6[/tex]    and

[tex]-5-6=-11[/tex]  this now looks like  [tex]\frac{6}{-11}[/tex]
