To be a function, a graphed equation must pass the vertical line test, i.e. a vertical line must not pass through more than one point on the graph, or the equation must not have more than one y-value for each x-value. All but the lower-left graph fail this test, and are therefore not functions.

The answer is the parabola so the one that literally looks like a "U".
