Apical dominance is when the main stem grows more strongly than branches. It is an occurrence where the the central stem is dominant as compared to the other stems. It is a common phenomenon in a plant's stems and aerial parts. It happens when the the apex revents the lateral buds' growth so plant grows vertically in such case.
