5280 feet = 1 mile

5280 × 60 = 316800

316800 feet per hour

3600 seconds = 1 hour

316800 feet per 3600 seconds

316800 ÷ 3600 = 88

60 miles per hour = exactly 88 feet per second.

(60 mile/hour) x (5280 feet/mile) x (1 hour/3600 second) = 88 ft/sec.

This is a handy number to remember and carry in your math toolbox.
It can be very helpful in solving a wide variety of problems.
